Our Team Is Taking A Stand. These two adorable foals from the Carter Reservoir Herd Management Area (HMA) are unaware of the danger to their herd. Our team is busy taking our legal action to protect them to the next level. This unique herd of primarily beautiful duns (managed by California BLM, physically in the Nevada) was pushed out of vast acreage that spanned from near Cedarville, CA, to the northern border of Nevada. BLM has approved a removal of Carter HMA to only 25, threatening the existence of the herd forever.
Our observer is back on-site today at the ongoing Devil's Garden roundup, the last large Forest Service herd located inside the borders of the state of CA. Our team is working on the Preliminary Injunction phase of the lawsuit to stop the roundup and get horses returned. You can see more about the case here. Carter and Surprise are two of the herds WHE is taking a stand to protect and preserve. We are taking a stand for horses and burros from Tassi-Gold Butte in AZ, into Stone Cabin/Saulsbury in NV, to herds in CA and so many more in between. This is a very dangerous time in the history of our wild ones. Too many herds sit on the edge of falling into disappearing forever. We will not give up the fight.
Monthly donations can give us steady funding so we can maintain current cases and plan to expand our defense. WHE has started a Patreon page as a new way you can help us month-after-month as we push forward (and we can provide you with behind-the-scenes info, glimpses into the part of this work that goes unseen). You can join Patreon for free or join one of the monthly contribution tiers HERE. All of our work is only possible because of donors like you. Together, we will work hard to expand the work to defend our wild ones at this critical time in history when so many herds sit on the edge of destruction. Thank you!
